Hidden Rock Sports is delighted to support Let’s Play it Forward (LPIF), an organization started and run by high school and college students that collects gently used sports equipment and uniforms and distributes them to children in need across America and around the world. We are committed to collecting for LPIF at all of our Good News for Young Athletes workshops. The first one was quite successful with bats, balls, many pairs of cleats, uniform pants, shirts and more collected. For more information about LPIF click here.
St. Charles Children’s Home Labor Day 5K/The Running Nuns
Now at the starting line of our new ministry, we think it is fitting to make the St. Charles Children’s Home Labor Day 5K in Rochester, NH the first recipient of our Hidden Rock Supports outreach. Inspired by The Daughters of Mary Mother of Healing Hope (aka the Running Nuns) who work at St. Charles Children’s Home, this annual race is a fundraiser for the Home and a reflection of the work they do with emotionally troubled children. Once they discovered that running is a therapeutic outlet for children who have deep anger, emotional and low self esteem issues, they incorporated it into the daily curriculum and it has made a big difference. Every day the nuns run four miles with the kids and participate in a variety of 5K Road Races throughout the year. The St. Charles Children’s Home Labor Day 5K Road Race has been “running” and garnering support for these children since 2003. Read more >
CAMP COMFORT ZONE
Hidden Rock Sports was happy to support the first annual Mailloux Masters Golf Tournament to raise money for Camp Comfort Zone, a place where children, ages 7-17, grieving the loss of a parent, sibling or other close family member can go to heal.
