Recognized for his ability to play well and stay steady under intense pressure, Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Jacob Slavin says “I know hockey will end one day, but God is forever. It puts me at peace knowing God’s in control of every aspect of my life.” The oldest of five siblings, all named after Biblical figures, Slavin grew up in Colorado and has always lived a faithful life. According to team chaplin and friend, Sid Graham, “He’s the real deal…Jacob and I talk about accountability. We have a Savior who looks after us and we have to look after each other. ” To this end, Slavin puts in 100 plus percent when he’s on the ice and often professes his faith to his teammates. He and his wife are active in many church ministries and despite his success he remains humble, asking Graham to remind him if he ever loses sight of his main goal. Slavin’s Twitter bio says “All Glory To God.” Click here to read more.
